Biography
Catherine A. Schaeffer is an educator, dancer, published author, and yogi. She teaches yoga locally for Wilkes University, Mountain Yoga Studio LLC, and Yoga Journeys. As a lead teacher for the Eastwest Somatics Institute for Yoga, Dance, and Movement Studies, Catherine offers Shin Somatics庐 Yoga teacher trainings and workshops nationally.
Ms. Schaeffer has performed with a dozen professional modern dance companies and presented choreography in national and international venues, including the Edinburgh Festival Fringe. She was a dance professor at Mercyhurst University, PA (1995-1999), and Valdosta State University in GA (2001-2015) where she developed the BFA Dance Degree program and earned both teaching and regional choreographic awards.
Catherine holds a MFA in Dance from Arizona State University, a MEd in Dance from Temple University, and a BS in Art Education from Kutztown University. She is an ISMETA registered somatic movement therapist and educator (RSMT/RSME), a Yoga Alliance certified E-RYT 500 and YA Continuing Education Provider. She continues to merge her love of art, yoga, movement, and education through her teaching and in work with private clients.
