Hiring Process

For Students

The following is for students interested in obtaining a work study position.

Before Applying

Before applying for a Federal Work Study position, please review your Financial Aid award for the current academic year to confirm your eligibility. If you have questions regarding your status, please email workstudy@wilkes.edu email link.

Students who are not eligible for Federal Work Study may apply only for positions funded through Institutional Work Study. Prior to applying, please confirm with the hiring supervisor that the department has institutional funds available to support the position.

Student Forms

If you are new to Work Study or have not worked in a Work Study position within the past 13 months, you鈥檒l need to complete the online Work Study employment forms.

These forms must be submitted before a Work Study job application can be submitted on your behalf.

If you have held a work-study position at 重口味SMwithin the past 13 month, you will not need to complete the student work study forms again unless:

  • Your permanent home address has changed
  • Your banking/direct deposit information has changed

For Hiring Supervisors

The following is for work study hiring supervisors who wish to hire for student work study positions.

Submitting an Opening

Hiring supervisors can submit an opening below. When approved, it will be posted on the work study openings page.

Post a Work Study Position

Hiring Process

Please do not automatically submit a Work Study application for the student you would like to hire. To prevent delays in the hiring process and ensure compliance with work study regulations, please follow the steps below.

  1. Submit Student Information
  2. Confirm Student Eligibility
    • You will receive an email from workstudy@wilkes.edu email link with the student's Federal Work Study eligibility, confirmation on if they must complete the New Hire Process, and guidance on next steps.
  3. Submit Application
    • Once the student has been approved for Work Study, the hiring supervisor will be notified that they may submit a Work Study application for the student. The application link will be provided in the approval email.

Additional Work Study Information

  • Students can work a maximum of 20 hours per week during the academic year and 30 hours per week during the summer term.
  • Work cannot occur during class time.
  • A student is permitted to work a maximum of two jobs per term.
  • Pay ranges are based upon a student's grade level. Undergraduate student pay ranges are from $9.50 to $12.00 per hour. Graduate students are paid $14.00 per hour.
